How do I unlock the other frogs?
Each one needs both a score and a number of flies — the Shop shows exactly what's still missing. Flies are the currency and they carry over between runs, so nothing is ever wasted.
What is the golden fly?
A fly made of gold that turns up roughly once in a thousand rows. Catch one and the lilypad under that frog on the menu turns gold. Catch one with every ordinary frog and the Golden frog unlocks — the only one you can't buy. Be warned: once two frogs have found one, the odds drop to one in ten thousand. It's meant to take a while.
Why does the music keep changing?
Every frog rides his own record — a roots one-drop, a rocksteady bounce, a slow dub, a steppers groove, and something brighter for the Golden frog. Switching frogs switches the track. Each one also dances to his own tempo on the menu.
The double jump won't fire.
It needs the bar at the bottom to be full — three clean landings — and it has to be a genuine double tap, both taps inside about a third of a second. A slow second tap reads as an ordinary jump instead, on purpose, so you can't spend a charged bar by accident.
I lost my progress.
Your scores and frogs live in a save file on the device itself — nothing is stored on a server, because HopJam has no accounts and no internet connection at all. Deleting the app deletes the save, and it can't be recovered or moved to another phone. That's the trade for collecting nothing about you.
Can I turn the music off?
Settings, from the main menu. Music and sound effects toggle separately, and Hard Mode is there too if the river is being too kind to you.
Does HopJam collect any data?
No. No accounts, no ads, no analytics, no tracking, and no networking code of any kind — it runs identically in aeroplane mode. See the privacy policy for the long version.
Found a bug, or something feels wrong?
Tell me what you were doing when it happened, which frog you were riding, and what phone you're on. That's usually enough to find it.
